FAQ - Tags

Q.  What is a tag?

A. A tag is a computer generated memo that advises the broker of any errors, discrepancies, missing information, or any other problems detected in the filed documents.

Q.  How is a tag item cleared?

A. The item must be corrected or an acceptable explanation given before it is cleared. If the explanation does not answer the tag, this information is forwarded to the DOI.

Q.  Why is there a delay oftentimes in processing the tag response received from the broker?

A. Sometimes there is a delay in the processing of tag responses when they are not sent back to SLA with a copy of the tag memo attached. Oftentimes, there is no indication it is a tag response. Other times it is delayed because the tag response is submitted within a batch filing and is not noticed until the batch is processed.
