Warren Stanley elected chairman of the Surplus Line Association

Warren StanleySan Francisco, California - (March 4, 2008) - The members of the Surplus Line Association of California (SLA) elected Warren Stanley as their Chairman during the SLA 2008 Annual Meeting. Warren Stanley is the Principal of Wholesale Connection Insurance Services in Woodland Hills, California.

Elected Vice Chairman was John Edack of Arch Specialty Insurance Agency, Inc. Elected Secretary-Treasurer was Les Ross of Tri-City Brokerage, A Division of BISYS Commercial Insurance Services, Inc. In addition, ten Executive Committee members were elected as follows: Ceil Norton of Burns & Wilcox Insurance, Patrick Hanley of Socius Insurance Services, Inc., Doris Barnett of Colemont Insurance Brokers, Anne McNally of ABD Insurance Services Financial, Gerald J. Sullivan of Gerald J. Sullivan & Associates, Inc., Davis Moore of Worldwide Facilities, Inc., Chris Brown of Brown & Riding Insurance Brokers, Frank Cravens of M.J. Hall & Company, Inc., Kris Bauer of AmWINS Insurance, and Phil Mazur of Swett & Crawford.

The SLA is an organization of 2,600 California surplus line broker licensees. Surplus line brokers negotiate and place insurance with nonadmitted or surplus line insurers. The SLA serves as the official surplus line advisory organization to the California Department of Insurance under California Insurance Code Sec. 1780.50 et seq. With few exceptions, all California surplus line insurance policies must be filed with the SLA for recordkeeping, regulatory compliance, and statistical reporting. In addition, the SLA is responsible for reviewing and evaluating the suitability of nonadmitted insurers seeking to become eligible surplus line insurers in the state of California.
